Community Relations Liaison

Our Community Relations Liaisons serve as a trusted ambassador for Bethany by nurturing strong, collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, senior living communities, and the broader community.

Bethany is seeking a full-time Community Relations Liaison to join our team. This role is responsible for educating the community about hospice and palliative care, supporting appropriate and timely referrals, and representing our mission with integrity, compassion, and professionalism. The ideal candidate is relationship-focused, self-directed, and skilled at navigating complex healthcare environments while keeping patient-centered care at the forefront.

As part of the interdisciplinary care team, the Community Relations Liaison is accountable to: 

  • Build and maintain strong, partnership-based relationships with physicians, hospitals, senior living communities, and other referral sources

  • Educate the community about hospice and palliative care services, eligibility, and benefits

  • Promote timely and appropriate hospice referrals in alignment with patient goals of care, including evaluating patient appropriateness in accordance with eligibility requirements

  • Complete hospice consents and collaborate closely with clinical team to ensure continuity and responsiveness during admission process

  • Monitor referral trends, territory activity, and outreach effectiveness, adjusting strategies as needed to meet goals

  • Represent Bethany at community events, in-services, and professional meetings

  • Uphold all ethical, regulatory, and compliance standards, including CMS Conditions of Participation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing, healthcare administration, nursing, social work, communications, or a related field. Equivalent healthcare or hospice experience may be considered

  • Prior experience in hospice, home health, or post-acute healthcare marketing or community relations preferred

  • Ability to market collaboratively and productively with customers, referral sources, and the community

  • Strong understanding of hospice philosophy, the Medicare Hospice Benefit, and referral processes (or willingness to learn quickly)

  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain professional relationships across diverse stakeholders

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. EMR experienced

  • High level of initiative, organization, and ability to work independently

  • Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling all obligations

  • Compliant with accepted professional standards and practices

  • Ability to perform in an interdisciplinary setting

  • Satisfactory references from employers and professional colleagues

  • Satisfactory criminal background check

  • Presentation of negative TB skin test and/or CXR and other tests as required by hospice and/or state law

  • Valid driver’s license and an automobile that is insured in accordance with state law and in good working order for regular out of office appointment activity

The Details

  • Salary range: $55,000 - $75,000/yr; depending upon experience (No referral-based bonuses or incentives)

  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM , on-call may be required

  • Location: Field-based in the greater Pittsburgh area
